1.Renovated OYASHIKI (Japanese traditional mansion) Facility “LEN” 】

The “LEN” facility is a renovated Oyashiki(Traditional Japanese Mansion) from the Taisho period. Originally located in Maiko, Kobe, it was relocated to its current location in Matsuyamachi, Osaka. It is now a multi store complex, carefully renovated to preserve its architecture. The current Oyashiki structre is entered from the main North gate, leading into a courtyard from which the many stores can be accessed. The current layout was designed in order for people, as they pass through, to sense the light, breeze and the warmth of one another.

2.Carbon【 Renovated NAGAYA (Japanese traditional town house) Facility “SO” 】

The “SO” facility is a renovated Nagaya(Traditional Japanese row/terraced house). This vintage Nagaya, built up in 1913(Taisho2) during the Meiji period, was one of the primary projects on the preservation program in this area, preserving it from being demolished. Formed by 9 independent shops, this facility was named after a self-governing organization formed by townspeople called “MACHISHU” during the Edo period. Also, the kanji character “惣” was known as the empty moat named “MINAMI SO GAMAE BORI” from the original Toyotomi Osaka Castle, which existed close to this area. The wooden fence at the southern part the facility is a remembrance of the original fence on the moat at the historical war “Osaka Fuyu no Jin” (Winter Siege of Osaka).

3.【Multi- culture Facility “Ho” 】

“Ho” facility is a multi-cultural, consisting of multiple shops and the Naoki Sanjyugo memorial hall in the center of the complex. Naoki Sanjyugo, known as a literary prize “Naokisho”, spent his elementary school period in a school which existed on the border of this site.

4.【 Hiratani Liquor Store 】

Hiratani Liquor Store, a standing bar and liquor store located in Karahori, is one of the few places which serve liquor actually inside the store. Familiar only to the locals this small place, which serves delicious food in a warm atmosphere, is run by its elderly owners whom are renowned for their hospitality. Their art of conversation is what keeps their local customers coming back again and again. These types of stores are important to the local community in maintaining and developing a sense of community and reforming local culture.

5.【 Rojiroom 】

Shop / Gallery based on the concept of “Long relations / regenerated”. Located in one of the narrow side roads “ROJI” in Karahori, it only opens on weekends. It sells remade products from Kimono cloth in a warm comfortable atmosphere. They also, hosts Kimono remake workshops.

6.【Kimono Store “ICHIRIN”】

Kimono store “Ichirin”, is a kimono store selling kimonos for everyday use, located in a traditional Japanese townhouse. As well as Kimonos, this store houses a range of small accessories for both formal and informal use. The stores concept is not to be too formal or traditional but to motivate your daily life. The owner suggests playing around with the kimono culture and combining into modern lifestyle.
